THIRTEENTH LONDON FESTIVAL
OF GREEK DRAMA

FEBRUARY - MARCH 2000


The London Festival of Greek Drama is the only event of its kind in the world: an annual season of live performance, lectures, films and workshops, committed to bringing the experience of ancient Greek drama to the widest possible modern audience. The 2000 Festival celebrates its thirteenth year with major new productions, a host of lectures, and a season of special pre-performance and workshop events.


PROGRAMME

The programme for the 2000 LFGD is presently being arranged. The season will include:-

Aristophanes BIRDS

(in the original Greek)
presented by the Department of Classics, King's College London
dates Wed 9 - Sat 12 February 2000

Sophocles OEDIPUS TYRANNUS

(in English translation)
presented by the Department of Greek and Latin, University College London
dates to be confirmed

Aristophanes PEACE

(in a new English translation)
presented by Chloë Productions
dates Tues 6 - Sunday 12 March 2000 (subject to confirmation)


The 2000 season will also include a joint lecture event at King's College London with the Centre for Hellenic Studies; a joint lunch-time lecture with the Hellenic Socity and joint lecture with the Institute of Classical Studies at the ICS, Senate House, University of London.

The full programme will be available in the late summer 1999.
