Epidaurus Festival 2005 June-August
The Hellenic Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary with one more series of quality performances at the ancient theater of Epidaurus. The Epidaurus Festival has been dedicated to the revival of ancient drama since its birth. The combination of ancient drama in an ancient theatre, interpreted by eminent artists, is what gives to the Epidaurus Festival its unique character and what has made it famous worldwide. This year ten performances - nine Greek productions and a Medea by Peter Stein - are presented every Friday and Saturday from June 24 to August 27

This reading begins a four-play series exploring the figure of Electra: this being the Aeshylean version. Subsequent months will include the Marianne McDonald translations of both Sophocles' and Euripides' Electra and the final play of the trilogy, The Eumenides.
