C.W. Marshall received his Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Edinburgh. He has taught at a number of Canadian Universities, including the Memorial University of Newfoundland where he won the President's Award for Outstanding Research in 2001. He presently teaches Greek and Latin poetry at the University of British Columbia.

As Artistic Director of Modern Actors Staging Classics, Dr. Marshall has been producing Greek and Roman plays since his undergraduate years at McGill. His productions include such perennial favourites as Cyclops, Children of Heracles, Women of Trachis, Curculio, and Asinaria. He has founded a number of improvisational comedy troupes and acted in contemporary theatre and a production of Rhesus.

Dr. Marshall was one of the organizers of the Crossing the Ancient Stages conference in Saksatoon (see Syllecta Classica 10, 1999), and has spoken about his productions at conferences in Greece, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and the United States. His articles have appeared in journals such as Classical Quarterly, Classical Journal, Classical World, Theatre Journal, and Echos du Monde Classique.
